    Abstract

    Aurat Aur Char Dewari (Women and Hurdles) is a series of thirteen (one-hour prime-time television) films, produced by Kamran Qureshi, written by Zafar Meraj, directed by Adnan Wai Qureshi and production of Evergreen Media Europe Ltd. Films highlighted barriers in women and girls' education, their participation in sports, honor killing, dowry, forced marriages, insecure married life due to a woman’s infertility, effects of TV dramas on housewives, domestic violence against women, marrying off women in return of murder as penalty, trading of women in between families in the resolution of a dispute, locking up women in homes, women identity and personality disorder due to physical or psychological abuse, women trapped in prostitution, bidding family women in gambling. The series aired on ARY Digital TV Network in the US, UK, UEA, Pakistan. Films are available online and on DVDs.
