    Abstract

This session deepens understanding of price cycles in investment markets through an exploration of the ability of market participants to identify, predict and (arguably) manipulate future asset price shocks. Whether you are a professional fund manager or personal investor, an understanding of the factors driving price fluctuations in asset markets is imperative for successful investment. In addition, knowledge of how these factors have changed is an important tool of the trade. The session is organised in three parts: The first part presents the economic theory. Next, a discussion of strategy is presented by utilising an analogy of a rollercoaster. In the final section group discussion is facilitated which focuses on the dynamics of asset bubbles. There will also be networking opportunities for those wishing to stay after the session or to discuss methodologies in greater depth.
