Abstract
The research project The Woods explores the intersection of fairy tale symbolism and contemporary digital landscapes, drawing parallels between the mythical "woods of experience" and online spaces. Presented at the "Transforming Literary Places" exhibition in Tartu, Estonia (March 28 – May 18, 2024), the work reflects on societal expectations placed on women, as seen in Zipes' analysis of Little Red Riding Hood. The project highlights themes of self-discovery, objectification, and silencing, examining how digital platforms perpetuate traditional gender dynamics while offering a paradoxical space of liberation. Through self-portraits styled after social media conventions and set in wooded landscapes, the artist juxtaposes fairy tale motifs with modern digital anxieties, placing the works back online to be rediscovered by both seekers and trolls.
