Abstract
Curated and exhibited as part of British Art Show 8 Southampton Artists Pop Up Late. My work ‘The Death of the Author’ was exhibited in the main gallery as part of this pop up.
Project description:
On Thursday, November 10th, I invited 12 local artists to showcase works inspired by the British Art Show 8. These pieces were displayed for one night in the gallery, each positioned in relation to the work that had influenced it. During an interactive tour, each artist discussed their creation, inviting viewers to ask questions and share their thoughts.
The artists drew inspiration from a variety of sources within the show. For my own piece, I was inspired by Jessica Warboys and the way in which, over time, our memories—and the identities of people in old family photo albums—fade. Ultimately, all that remains are images of forgotten faces. Echoing Warboys' approach, I allowed nature to act as the creator, letting time erode a series of found photographs.
