    Abstract

This chapter is an introduction to Researching Disability Sport. To begin, the authors establish the context for the book and explain how this edited collection will address the shortcomings of the current state-of-the-art. They then establish the book’s manifesto and their intentions to create a valuable resource that captures contemporary disability sport research and progresses future scholarship. The chapter then explores how the contributors employ disability language and terminology in the book. They discuss the person-first/identity-first debate and encourage researchers to be considered and consistent in their choice of vocabulary. Finally, the authors provide a chapter-by-chapter synopsis of the book.
