Abstract
The development and adoption of Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies continues to increase in different emerging areas. One of these areas is marine industry where the demand of producing lightweight cost effective AM components has been going on for the last couple of years to increase functional efficiency. This paper goes through a case study where some critical components of an electric outboard propulsive leg have been redesigned to gain benefits from the AM technology in terms of better performance, less costly and rapid development of components, which require no tooling and other associated costs.
