    Abstract

In 1987 myself and Tim Difford (as 'Axis') produced some electronic/ambient music on a 4 track reel-to-reel machine in a small College studio in Leeds. Over the years original copies of this music disappeared with only a second generation tape copy still in existence. I've often thought about revisiting this music in some way - inspired by William Basinski's revisitation of his own degenerating recordings from the early 1980s, I have constructed 4 new pieces from loops and fragments taken from the old Axis cassette tape. This material was processed and manipulated using Ableton Live and NI Reaktor and Kore2 and consists of 4 tracks of industrial and/or ambient and/or hauntological and/or drone music.
