N2 - "London College of Fashion is proud to announce a new and ambitious exhibition Drawing and the Body, an exploration of the body through drawing, realised in collaboration with The Swedish School of Textiles, University of Borås.
The exhibition presents an exceptional range of works by sixteen fashion designers, illustrators, costume designers and artists from London College of Fashion. Pieces by young and talented practitioners as well as by established, high profile figures such as Professor Helen Storey MBE, fashion designer and Fellow of the RSA; Professor Lucy Orta internationally renowned artist and environmentalist who recently co‐curated the GSK Contemporary exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts – Aware: Art, Fashion Identity; and Charlotte Hodes, winner of Jerwood Drawing Prize 2006.
Drawing and the Body explores the relationship between drawing and the body, a primary concern within fashion design. Drawing is widely interpreted to include the use of traditional materials as well as digital drawing, performance and video.
Drawing and the Body is the third within a series of successful exhibitions developed by London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London. It has been preceded by the shows When Photography and Drawing Meet Fashion, at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2009), and Drawing Towards Fashion, at The Fashion Space Gallery, London College of Fashion(2007). These series of exhibitions have highlighted the crucial role that drawing plays within creative thinking and the fashion design process.
Drawing and the Body is an exchange exhibition between London College of Fashion, (University of the Arts London) and The Swedish School of Textiles, University of Borås, Sweden".
