Abstract
Domestic violence is serious and should be severely dealt with by the criminal law. There is no offence of domestic violence as such; instead the criminal law responds to it with a number of different offences which are examined in this article, as is the issue of how a prosecution for domestic violence is facilitated. The punishments and orders available to deal with domestic violence are also examined.
