    Abstract

This paper critically assesses the EU approach to the issue of compensation of victims of antitrust violations. In examining the legal basis underpinning the Commission power and implications in extending its role, this paper argues that the Commission is already legally able to award compensation as part of its duty to prosecute violations of competition law.
