The Command Team Experimental Testbed (ComTET)

    Project Details

    Academic description

The Command Teamwork Experimental Test‑bed (ComTET) is a research programme led by the University of Southampton that explores how submarine command teams operate and how their performance can be improved. Phase 2b builds on several years of earlier research and concentrates on the interaction between people, technology and procedures within submarine control rooms, particularly as new systems, increasing levels of automation and new ways of working are introduced. The overall aim is to support command teams to operate more safely, efficiently and effectively, both now and in the future, by gaining a better understanding of how teams communicate, make decisions and manage high workloads in demanding operational environments.
