Academic description
Maritime telemedicine is a rapidly growing and evolving field. However, there is currently no clear map of the existing services, their barriers, and opportunities. This scoping study will explore the different ways of providing maritime telemedical care at the European and international levels. It will focus on service models, the technology used by service providers, and the associated challenges and opportunities. The review, the first of its kind, will further the understanding of the
current maritime telemedical landscape and pave the way for future collaborative studies to
support the adoption of telemedicine and improve the wellbeing and safety of seafarers.
