Project Details
Academic description
This one-day hybrid symposium titled: ‘The Future of Football: Mapping Progress and Alternatives’ is designed to invite scholars working across the fields of sociology, criminology, political science, cultural studies, law and sport, to examine some of the future challenges and opportunities facing football over the next 30 years. The purpose of this one-day event therefore is to critically consider these developments, ask new questions of football, and imagine altogether more progressive, and sustainable alternatives that might reshape the future of the game. We are particularly keen to generate interest from early career researchers and doctoral candidates. Contributions may take the form of presentations or workshops or single abstracts from individuals / co-researchers submitting a paper that addresses a theme on the critical future of football.
