Developing an Open Access Tool for Capturing Value Exchange Networks at Live Events

Project Details

Academic description

This project aims to address a critical need in the creative industry using social science research: the lack of an open-access tool to capture data for the creation of value exchange network maps. Currently, a network map is built manually by inputting data directly into a spreadsheet. This data is then rendered using an application that provides tools for visualising and analysing network data, for example Gephi. This is extremely labour-intensive and fails to take advantage of modern technologies that can automate the process. The development of a value network mapping tool will enable the project to apply actor-network theory and Bruno Latour's theory of translation, to the exploration of the role of value exchange in network development within the creative industries.
