Teaching
I lecture in Design Theory and Practice across the Foundation Design and BA programs at Solent University. I have lead and taught modules across a range of courses including BA (Hons) Makeup & Hair Design, BA (Hons) Prosthetics and Special Effects, BA (Hons) Fashion Design and the Foundation Design course. I am an experienced level leader currently leading the first year Makeup and Hair students, ensuring they have a point of contact and are supported in all areas to achieve success. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and have been employed by Solent University since 2017.
Research interests
After graduating from a BA (Hons) in Textile Design from Southampton University, I went on to study for a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at Portsmouth University and then an MA in Critical Creative Practice at Solent University. I am currently a part-time PhD research student, in Fashion Photography at Suffolk University.
My research interests centre on the intersection of fashion photography, modernist aesthetics and feminist theory, with a particular focus on the 1920s - 1960s and how fashion imagery constructs and negotiates ideals of gender, sexuality and power.
