Personal profile

Personal profile

I started a career as a graphic designer, photographer and stylist, working with various agencies before transitioning to web development and software engineering. After obtaining a BSc (Hons) degree in Software Engineering, I honed my programming and design skills, contributing significantly to Solent University's e-DC team. In pursuit of academic excellence, I completed a master's degree in Interactive Media Practice, focusing on mobile app development, AR/VR, user experience (UX) design, internet of things (IOT) & wearables, and e-commerce. I am now aspiring to undertake a PhD, to demonstrate my commitment to advancing research and knowledge in my field.

Creative Works

With over three decades of experience in graphic design, I have witnessed the evolution of digital design tools and I have a deep connection with the Adobe suite. My portfolio, enriched with a diverse range of projects from books to CD covers, logos, branding, illustrations, posters, flyers, and magazines, etc., reflects a commitment to versatility and client satisfaction.

My dedication to delivering a good UX in design is commendable, as it is a crucial aspect of successful design work. My expertise spans across various UX design principles, techniques, and the ability to adapt to the ever-changing trends and technologies in the graphic design industry.

Teaching

My dedication to teaching through graphic design and UX techniques is a valuable way that I approach education. By integrating principles of design and UX, I am able to create engaging, intuitive, and visually appealing educational materials that enhance learning. This interdisciplinary method not only makes information more accessible but also encourages active participation and retention among students. My skills in these areas can significantly contribute to the development of innovative educational tools and platforms, potentially transforming the traditional learning environment into a more dynamic and interactive space.

Research interests

As a researcher, my interests lie at the intersection of cognitive psychology, UX design, and human-computer interaction (HCI).

Cognitive psychology, HCI, and UX design are interconnected fields that collectively aim to understand and improve the way individuals interact with technology. Cognitive psychology provides insights into how people perceive, think, and remember, which informs HCI research focused on designing intuitive user interfaces. UX design then applies these insights to create products that offer seamless and meaningful experiences. Research in these areas involves a blend of qualitative and quantitative methods, including controlled experiments, ethnographic studies, and usability testing, to explore how technological tools can better serve human needs and enhance daily life.
