Research interests
I am the course leader for the MSc Clinical Exercise Science pathway at Solent University having graduated from Brunel University London in 2007 with an MSc (Hons) in Sport Science (Human Performance). Previously, I completed my undergraduate studies at Solent University on the BA (Hons) Health and Fitness Management pathway in 2006. I joined the University in 2013 following the successful completion of the PGCL&T in HE and became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
I established the MSc Clinical Exercise Science course in 2020 and was instrumental in developing Solent Exercise Referral - a bespoke exercise referral scheme for clinically-referred patients in Southampton and West Hampshire. In collaboration with Southampton, Hampshire and the IOW Clinical Commissioning Group, the scheme allows master’s students to experience ‘real world’ learning opportunities while improving clinical health and fitness of the local community.
I am an accredited Phase IV Cardiac and Cancer Rehabilitation specialist and am currently working on my PhD, investigating the Effects of Eccentric Endurance Exercise on Cardiovascular Function and Heart Rate Variability in People with Type II Diabetes Mellitus
