Research interests
My current research interests include, gender and sexuality within social work, researching social work education, the language of social work, service users and carers as expert contributors, and human development and the life-course.
Teaching
I began teaching at Bournemouth University on the BA & MA Social Work programmes, together with the BA Sociology and Social Policy degree in 2011. I lead modules on law and social policy, ethics and values, ideology, and lectured in globalisation and marginalisation.
I have been teaching at Solent Univeristy since 2016, teaching on subects such as social work law and social policy, social work and sociology, research, professionalism, ethics and values, and I regularly contribute to other taught modules as appropriate. I have been a field tutor for social work students on practice placement and head of the second year of the degree.
I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), which recognises teaching excellence in higher education.
Professional Information
I am currently the Course Leader for the Social Work programmes at Solent University and an Associate Head for the Department of Social Sciences and Nursing.
