Department of Social Sciences and Nursing
Our academics are involved in addressing some of the most pressing questions facing society through our research and knowledge exchange. Our values ensure that we work with communities, using participatory and action research. We examine social and criminal injustices and inequalities across society, foregrounding the intersecting dimensions of marginalisations. We evaluate how individual and community wellbeing can be supported through activities such as sport and heritage engagement, and we develop pedagogical approaches to lead the way in finding the most effective way to train the health and social care professionals of the future. We develop innovative pedagogical approaches and assessment tools leading the way in advancing how we train health and social care professionals of the future.
