Solent Business School focuses on the following are the Research and Knowledge Exchange: 

 

  1. Regenerative Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Research Group

 

The Regenerative Enterprise and Entrepreneurship group (REE) has been developed around the strengths of Solent Business School.

 

The REE group focuses on investigating and enhancing aspects enterprise and entrepreneurship theory and practice.

 

The aim of the REE group is connecting experienced researchers, less experienced and new researchers, and students in the Business and Law Department and beyond to enable them to collaborate in research and knowledge exchange activities particularly in enterprise and entrepreneurship.

 

The REE group focuses on investigating and enhancing aspects enterprise and entrepreneurship theory and practice. This includes but is not limited to: entrepreneurship, intrapreneurship, business ethics, corporate governance, human resource management, strategy and marketing development, project management, and regenerative supply change and their implication to enterprise and entrepreneurship.

 

REE carry out the following activities:

  • Monthly seminar and workshops.

In the monthly seminar staff can share their research findings with others. In addition, we also organise workshops on Knowledge Transfer Partnership, Funding process at Solent, Knowledge Exchange, Bloomberg, Quantitative Data analysis, writing academic paper and communicating with the editors, and so on.

 

  • Solent Student Conference

This initiative is linked to Solent’s core strategic priority of furthering knowledge through research and engaging with our communities for an exchange of knowledge.

The aim is to provide student researchers with a safe and nurturing space to present and discuss fascinating research projects and ideas. 

 

  • Female Entrepreneurs Networking/workshops

Networking events (and workshops) for Female entrepreneurs in Southampton and surrounding area. These networking events and workshops offer supports such as talks/workshops that will help these female entrepreneurs to eliminate/reduce the challenges to run their business (self-confidence building, how to leverage LinkedIn for your business, Market Research, Writing Business Plan, Pitching the Business Plan, how to use Bloomberg for market research).

 

 

  1. Help to grow Programme and Apprentice schemes

We work with businesses, focus on sharing expertise and hit the continuing development target.

 

  1. Active participation and exchange of ideas in business networking

Examples: Regenerate South Annual Business Conference that focus on local growth and regeneration, New Forest Business Partnership, Women’s Enterprise Regional Networking event, and International Women’s Day Business Lunch.

 

  1. Live Briefs from local companies and charities

Some examples: Ship safe training group (for PG courses induction), The Wolf Rock Boat Company (for Sustainable Strategic Management), The Dispute Service Ltd (for Strategic Management), Rose Road (for Operation Management), New Forest Escape (Live Client International Marketing week), and Heathrow masterclass.

The Department holds the Small Business Charter accreditation.

 

  1. Business Advisory Board

Solent University seeks to embed the expertise of our business community within the University to support future development, growth and student experience opportunities. The Business Advisory Board will help inform student success, business development, curriculum relevance, within the Department. The board brings together senior business leaders with an interest and influence in relevant industry or industries. The board provides a platform for collaboration and innovation with business, enabling Solent to achieve its strategic priorities.

 

Solent Law School is a practitioner-based Law School which aligns with the University's mission to enable students to be work ready and world ready. The academics in the Law school are practitioner-focussed colleagues.
