Description
This paper explores hyperacusis through an arts-based research approach, reflecting on the author's personal experience and artistic practice to foster empathy and understanding of this condition. Drawing on theories by Barone and Eisner (2012) and Heidegger (1935), the work emphasizes art’s role in raising questions about complex social and cultural issues and deepening engagement with existence. Incorporating participatory methods highlighted by Hogan et al. (2015) and Charon (2021), the author explores the transformative potential of art to evoke emotional responses, foster healing, and build community. Through workshops, the “Sound Off Competition,” and visual outcomes, this research contributes to discourse on health and well-being by connecting sufferers and promoting shared storytelling. This abstract was part of my presentation for the 7th International Conference on Hyperacusis and Misophonia (ICHM7). https://lnkd.in/eUWpXfTq (P. 71, Vol. 14, Issue 3, 2024)Period | 24 Sept 2024 |
