This case study presents a gamified learning activity for ship operations designed to enhance maritime students’ employability skills through realistic, team-based decision-making. Delivered as a two-hour workshop, students assumed distinct professional roles within a simulated ship management environment, responding to operational and commercial scenarios via Microsoft Teams. The activity aims to foster collaboration, professional judgement and problem-solving in a low-stakes pedagogical setting. Student feedback indicated appreciation for applied learning, while personal reflections highlighted the value of clear role structures, effective communication, and careful pacing.
