Description

In my paper titled Little Red Riding Hood Online: Visual Arts Exploring the Woods Metaphor and the Suppression of the Female Voice in the Digital World, I explore the metaphor of the "woods" in fairy tales as a symbol of life's challenges and societal expectations, particularly for women. The woods often represent a space of danger and self-discovery, where women are cautioned against deviating from norms. I draw a parallel between these traditional narratives and the modern digital world, where social media amplifies similar societal pressures, leading to self-objectification and the suppression of women's voices. Through my artistic work, I investigate how digital spaces, much like the mythical woods, continue to stifle women's self-expression, reinforcing traditional gender dynamics and perpetuating harassment, thus mirroring the historical silencing of women.
