Description

This poster showcased a practice-based artwork visualizing the effects of birth trauma on midwives, informed by research into the challenges they face, including burnout, stress, and PTSD from witnessing traumatic perinatal events. Midwives often navigate a tension between providing empathetic care and managing institutional pressures, leading to feelings of powerlessness, guilt, and isolation. Through photography, photomontage, and mixed media, my artwork incorporates testimonials and metaphors to convey these emotional experiences. The aim is to foster empathy, raise awareness, and advocate for positive changes in maternity care, empowering midwives and encouraging support for their well-being.
