The HEA Annual Conference, ‘Powerful partnerships: Defining the learning experience’ at the University of Warwick on 3-4 July 2013 explored the increasing use of partnerships to address the challenges presented by change.Two keynote speakers and selected presentations took place in the main auditorium at the Conference, 3-4 July at the University of Warwick, were streamed live to online delegates.
Sir Michael Barber, Chief Education Adviser, Pearson, talked about his publication: ‘An avalanche is coming: Higher education and the revolution ahead’ and the forces affecting higher education in the UK and internationally.
Steven Schwartz, Executive Director of the Australian Council for Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS) gave the second keynote which used real world examples to focus on the ingredients of successful partnerships.
There was also the opportunity to hear directly from a live student panel about their perceptions of the issues raised.
Together the sessions distilled the key issues that were covered during the conference and encompassed almost half a day of the full programme.
